Keeps evaluating investment opportunities to achieve its farther targets, Turkish Technic has signed a heads of agreement with Sapura Technics Sdn Bhd, one of the aircraft maintenance and repair companies in Malaysia and a subsidiary of Sapura Resources Berhad, at a meeting held in Istanbul on 12 July 2021 with the attendance of the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

Commenting on the investments planned to be made in the Asia-Pacific region, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, İlker Aycı said: “Without a doubt, aviation and MRO sector are one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic. Turkish Technic Receives Base Maintenance Authorization for C/D Hangars at Istanbul Airport

Turkish Technic has recently received base maintenance authorization for its Istanbul Airport C/D Hangars which were opened in October 2020 as one of the biggest hangars in the world. Following the authorization, Turkish Technic has welcomed its first base maintenance customers, three Airbus type aircraft. The Airbus A321neo has been the first aircraft to be given the Certificate of Release to Service (CRS). Turkish Technic celebrated the first release at C/D Hangars with the technical team on board.

 

With an indoor area of 60.000 m2, C/D Hangars have the capacity to provide maintenance services for 3 wide and 11 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously. In addition to being one of the biggest hangars in the world, C/D Hangars are equipped with the state-of-the-art technology while all elements in and around the facility are managed by smart automation systems. The hangars meet their water needs through rainwater harvesting and solar energy is being utilized as a part of the energy source. The translucent polycarbonate panels used in the hangars allow the benefits of sunlight last for a longer time.

 

On the authorization of the C/D Hangars, CEO of Turkish Technic, Mikail Akbulut stated that: “We are proud to have completed the very first aircraft base maintenance at our C/D Hangars, which have been put into service recently. C/D Hangars are a milestone for the global MRO market as well as for the Turkish civil aviation. When all phases of our facilities at Istanbul Airport are complete, we will have 11 hangars in total, and we will be able to provide maintenance and repair services to 26 narrow and 19 wide-body aircraft simultaneously.”

Turkish Technic Expands Inventory with Boeing Parts Agreement

    Renewal of tailored parts package agreement between Boeing and Turkish Technic to provide a dynamic balance between airplane availability and inventory costs for Turkish Technic.  The three year agreement expands previous program with 9,000 part numbers

 

    DUBAI, June 15, 2021— Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Turkish Technic announced today a renewed tailored parts package agreement, extending the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider’s current contract by three years. The contract will enable Turkish Technic to reinforce its efficiency, reliability and access to a global network of parts and component services.

    Through this agreement, Turkish Technic will continue to streamline maintenance operations with price and availability benefits from the renewal agreement. This Tailored Parts Package three year renewal expands the companies’ previous agreement with 9,000 part numbers. Logistic Support of the Peace Eagle AEW&C Aircraft to be Provided by Domestic Industry

Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) System Logistics Support Service Contract has been signed between the Presidency Defence Industries and Turkish Technic. Turkish Aerospace (TAI), HAVELSAN and Boeing will be the subcontractors of the project, which includes logistic support services for mission and ground systems of the 4 Peace Eagle AEW&C Aircraft, which are in the inventory of the Turkish Air Force Command.

 

Within the scope of the project, in addition to the on-site support for the maintenance of the AEW&C System located at Konya's 3rd Main Jet Base, the depot level maintenance of the aircraft will be carried out at the Esenboga Airport facilities of Turkish Technic, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines. TAI and HAVELSAN, which will serve as subcontractors, will utilize the experience gained during the development of the AEW&C System. Boeing, the manufacturer of the aircraft, will provide support in material procurement, documentation and technical issues. With the project, all logistics support needed for the AEW&C System will continue to be provided uninterruptedly.

 

              Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, President of Defence Industries: "Multiplier effect for Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) with advanced radar and sensors"

Prof. Dr. Ismail Demir, the President of Defence Industries, made the following statement on the subject: “The Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) System creates a multiplier effect for our Turkish Armed Forces in counter-terrorism and cross-border operations by operating at high altitudes with advanced radar and sensors and detecting enemy targets from long distances. Logistic support services of our AEW&C aircraft will continue to be provided uninterruptedly with the capabilities of our domestic industry. With the AEW&C System Logistics Support Project, Turkish Technic’s international experience in maintenance, repair and material supply is provided for the defence of our country. Turkish Technic’s experience in civil aviation has been a significant gain in project management in terms of cost effectiveness. In addition, the subcontractors TAI and HAVELSAN, will guide us with their experience that they have gained during the development of the AEW&C System. Aircraft manufacturer Boeing will also provide support in material procurement, documentation and technical issues.

Continuous logistics support from Turkish Technic

General Manager of Turkish Technic, Ahmet Karaman, stated that “We first carried out the base maintenance of 4 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft in our Air Forces Command inventory in 2015. General Manager Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar of HAVELSAN said, "As a place, where knowledge and experience on mission systems software and hardware is created during the development of the AEW&C System, HAVELSAN will take part in the maintenance and improvement activities of hardware and software of AEW&C Mission Systems and Ground Systems".

General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil of Turkish Aerospace stated the role of TAI, which has fulfilled critical missions from the very beginning within the Peace Eagle Project for the AEW&C System: “We are proud to be in the maintenance management setup created in the Presidency of Defence Industries’ initiative. Within the framework of this mission, our Turkish Air Forces Command will be provided with the technical support of aircraft mission systems in the field of maintenance and operation of the AEW&C System, continue the production and management of technical documentation, and train the personnel on mission systems, if needed, by using the knowledge it has acquired to date. We will perform these services with all our sensitivity to the utmost level. "

On the signing of logistics support contract, Boeing Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft Program Director Binoy Varughes stated that they are very pleased with the growing cooperation between Turkey and Boeing and added "As Boeing, we are proud to support Turkish Air Forces’ Peace Eagle AEW&C aircraft and we are looking forward to working with Turkish Technic”. Boeing Turkey General Manager and Country Representative Aysem Sargin stated that "We are delighted to be working with Turkey for the logistic support of our joint production of the Peace Eagle aircraft. Turkish Technic has completed the construction of the new hangars, an important part of the aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) complex at Istanbul Airport. As the first base maintenance hangars of Istanbul Airport, they are now ready to welcome its domestic and international customers. 

 

           With an indoor area of 60.000m2, the new complex has the distinction of housing the largest hangars in Turkey. Able to provide services to 3 wide-body and 6 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously, the new hangars will further increase the competitive edge of Turkish Technic in the ever-growing and developing global MRO market.

           Turkish Technic places a high priority on the environment and aspires to achieving sustainability in all its activities. With this policy in mind, Turkish Technic’s new base maintenance hangars will meet their water needs through rainwater harvesting and solar energy is going to be utilized as a part of the energy source. The translucent polycarbonate panels used in the hangars allow the benefits of sunlight for a longer time, and the waste oil taken out from aircraft tanks enables the heating system to run on recycled fuel.

Turkish Technic Tested the Base Maintenance Hangars’ Fire Extinguishing Systems

Providing fast and reliable maintenance, repair and overhaul services to its customers since its foundation, Turkish Technic is also installing the cutting-edge safety precautions to its base maintenance hangars. As the biggest maintenance and repair brand of its region, Turkish Technic tested the new fire extinguishing systems in the main maintenance hangars of Istanbul Airport. Turkish Technic General Manager Ahmet Karaman and Turkish Airlines Chief Human Resources Officer Abdülkerim Çay was also in attendance during the testing.

         The main and most visible feature of the Turkish Technic maintenance hangars in Istanbul Airport is their superior safety systems. Inside the hangar, there are five 3500gpm fire pumps, 1938 cubic meters of firefighting water storage and 89 foam generators. Therefore, during a potential emergency, pressurized sprinklers with foam are activated automatically via sensors, providing remote firefighting at a moment’s notice to protect the health of the workers on site while bringing the fire under control in a short period.

         With the flights resuming in Istanbul Airport, the new center of Turkish Airlines and the aviation industry, Turkish Technic provides its services to its national and international customers in it's line maintenance hangars and it will possess the region’s biggest MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facility after the completion of all base aircraft maintenance hangars in construction.

Turkish Technic signs multi-year PBH contract with Air Astana to serve Airbus A320 family fleet

Turkish Technic has signed a long term power-by-the-hour services contract with Air Astana, the flag carrier of Kazakhstan, to serve their fleet of Airbus A320 family, both CEO and NEO. 

Under the terms of the agreement, Turkish Technic will provide 24/7 support through its internet-based Pool Web-Suite portal, which will allow Air Astana to access all the necessary information needed. The components will be repaired and overhauled in Turkish Technic’s state-of-the-art shops based in Istanbul. The agreement strengthens the cooperative partnership between Air Astana and Turkish Technic.

Boeing and Turkish Technic Announce Global Fleet Care Supplier Agreement.

Boeing and Turkish Technic Inc., the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) arm of Turkish Airlines, announced signing of a Global Fleet Care supplier agreement. 

Turkish Technic is now a strategic Boeing supplier for line maintenance, heavy maintenance of airplanes, component service and repair. Boeing and Turkish Technic will collaborate together in the training and certification of technicians from different parts of the world. 

“We provide a broad portfolio of MRO services in 50+ International Line Maintenance locations as well as our existing base maintenance facilities in Istanbul and Ankara. In addition to the current services we provide, more will be available to our customers at our brand-new facilities, located Istanbul New Airport as of 29th October 2018.
